History

Timber Ridge Elementary School sits in the heart of East Cobb in Marietta, Georgia. We have an excellent reputation, receiving the Georgia School of Excellence in Student Achievement in 2008, Georgia Platinum Award for Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) in 2006 and 2010, and U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School in 2011. These accomplishments were achieved as the result of hard work from the school administration, staff, teachers, and parent volunteers.

In 2005, a group of parents gathered to discuss County and State budget cuts in education and their impact on Timber Ridge. The group suggested forming a foundation to offer Timber Ridge parents and the local community ways to contribute to enhance the curriculum and address the capital needs of the school. The suggestion was met with overwhelming support by parents, teachers, and school staff. Soon after, the Timber Ridge Foundation (TRF) was formed.

TRF is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. A sixteen person board of directors, comprised of parent volunteers and school administration, manage the business of the Foundation.
